Patios in Lake Mac
We know what builds well around the lake.
Building outdoors around Lake Macquarie isn’t quite like building anywhere else. The blocks tend to be larger. Plenty of homes face west across the water, which means brutal afternoon sun in summer and beautiful sunsets every other season. Southerlies come in hard off the lake in winter. And Lake Macquarie City Council has its own development rules that are different to Central Coast Council, so what works in Toronto might need a different approach in Belmont or Wangi.
We’ve been designing and building patios across Lake Mac for decades. From lakeside builds at Bonnells Bay and Marks Point to family homes in Cardiff, Charlestown and Warners Bay, we know what materials hold up in this climate, which roof profiles handle the western sun best, and how to work with the council’s process to get approvals through quickly.
Every patio is custom-designed for your home and your block, built with genuine Stratco materials, and installed by our own team.
The Stratco range
Three patio systems.
One that's right for your home.
Outback Flat
The clean, low-profile classic. Smooth, uncluttered lines that suit modern homes and attach neatly to the house line. Beams span up to 8.4 metres, available in either freestanding or attached.
Best for: contemporary homes, tight spaces, attaching directly to the house
Outback Gable
A pitched roof that adds height, presence and airflow. The open feel suits classic and federation homes especially well and makes a feature of the outdoor space rather than tucking it under the eaves.
Best for: traditional homes, larger entertaining spaces, where you want height and a feature roofline
Outback Curved
A graceful, contemporary canopy. The smooth curve adds a sense of style and softens the look of any outdoor area.
Best for: design-led homes, softening modern lines, statement outdoor spaces
Outback Cooldek
Cooldek is an insulated panel that gives you roof, insulation and a clean ceiling-like finish in one product. A polystyrene core bonded between steel panels cuts heat transfer and reduces noise from rain. Available in insulation thicknesses from 50mm to 150mm, and pairs with Flat or Gable profiles. Particularly popular across Lake Mac, where west-facing aspects across the water mean serious afternoon heat.
Best for: year-round comfort, hot aspects, hiding wiring for fans and lights
Outback Sunroof
A motorised louvre roof. Electronically controlled louvres open and close to your desired position, with an inbuilt rain sensor that closes the blades automatically if it starts raining. Available in flat and gable roof designs.
Best for: year-round comfort, hot aspects, hiding wiring for fans and lights
Pavilion Grande
The flagship of the Pavilion range. Larger columns, bulkheads and the distinctive Edge gutter give it a substantial, architectural presence. The insulated composite roofing creates a smooth ceiling-like finish underneath, with concealed fasteners and downpipes keeping the lines clean.
Best for: premium homes, large entertaining spaces, a true outdoor room
Pavilion Allure
The premium opening-roof system. Remote-controlled louvres open for ventilation and filtered sunlight, then close to a flat ceiling appearance for full shade and weather protection. A single Allure unit can cover up to 24 square metres, with multiple units able to be joined and operated by a single remote.
Best for: feature outdoor rooms, premium homes, large entertaining spaces

It was never really about the patio. It's about everything that happens under it.
Sunday lunches that run until sunset. Grandkids who’d rather be at your place than home. A coffee outside before the day starts. We build the structure. You build the memories.

Local approvals
We handle the Lake Macquarie City Council process for you.
Lake Macquarie City Council has its own development controls for outdoor structures. Some patios qualify as exempt development under the NSW State Planning Policy. Others need a formal Development Application or Complying Development Certificate, particularly if the build is close to a boundary, exceeds certain height limits, or sits within a foreshore protection zone (relevant if your property is near the lake).
We handle the entire approval process. Site assessment, certified engineering plans, paperwork, lodgement with council, and follow-up. You get a clear answer on what’s required at the consultation stage, before any work begins.
“We are so happy with the results and it has completely transformed our outdoor space!”

Frequently asked
Patio questions, answered.
How much does a Stratco patio cost in Lake Macquarie?
Pricing varies based on the range, size, roof profile and any added features. Interest-free finance is available. Every project starts with a free on-site consultation and a fixed-fee quote. Call us on 0490 094 020 to book in.
Do I need council approval for a patio in Lake Macquarie?
In many cases yes, through Lake Macquarie City Council. Some patios qualify as exempt development under NSW planning rules. Others need formal approval, particularly if the build is attached to your home, exceeds certain height limits, or sits within a foreshore zone. We handle the approval process for you as part of the service.
How far do you travel within Lake Mac?
We service the entire Lake Macquarie LGA, from the eastern suburbs around Belmont and Swansea through to Bonnells Bay and Morisset on the western shore. If you’re outside the LGA but nearby, give us a call.
Are Stratco patios suitable for lakeside homes?
Yes. Stratco’s steel and aluminium components are coated to resist corrosion in coastal and lakeside environments. We specify materials and finishes based on how close the build is to the water, so you don’t get rust issues a few years in.
What's the best patio roof for west-facing Lake Mac homes?
Cooldek insulated roofing is the most common choice for west-facing builds across the lake. The insulated panel cuts summer heat noticeably and gives you a clean ceiling-like finish underneath. We’ll talk through the trade-off between Cooldek and standard single-skin Outback profiles during the consultation
Is the 25-year warranty real?
Yes. It’s Stratco’s product warranty, backed by an authorised dealer who’s been on the Coast for 35+ years. We’re still here when you need us.
Can my patio be enclosed later?
Absolutely. Many of our customers add ambient blinds, walls or sliding doors later to create a year-round outdoor room. The Stratco frame is engineered to support this.
How soon can you start?
The entire Central Coast, including Tuggerah, Wyong, Gosford, Woy Woy, Bateau Bay and surrounding suburbs. We also service parts of Lake Macquarie.
